Double-loop bale ties are steel rods in fixed lengths, with a closed loop at each end. During baling, the operator hooks the loops together. When the baler opens and the material expands, the wire comes under tension and the connection locks automatically. The result is a strong, permanent closure that withstands high rebound forces. Thanks to their fixed length, double-loop bale ties are easy to place and particularly suitable for bales with a consistent size.
Metalwire’s double-loop bale ties are used for bundling highly expanding materials, where automatic closure and high breaking strength are crucial. Typical examples include foam, tyres, felt and non-wovens.
We supply double-loop bale ties in galvanised and phosphated finishes. Galvanised ties provide a smooth surface and high corrosion resistance, while phosphated wire offers a rougher surface for extra grip on materials with strong rebound. Copper-coated variants are also available on request for specific applications. All types are supplied in various diameters (tolerance ±0.05 mm) and lengths. The loops are precisely formed and remain stable under load.
Key options at a glance:
Finishes – galvanised, copper-coated, phosphate
Lengths – approx. 2,500 mm to 4,800 mm
Packaging – tightly bundled or coiled in boxes, covered and ready to use
Applications and advice: secure bundling under rebound pressure
Double-loop bale ties are used in vertical balers for materials that strongly rebound after compression. When the baler opens, the material expands back towards its original volume, releasing significant tension. The loops, hooked together during baling, then lock immediately and keep the bale tightly secured without shifting or breaking.
In environments with vertical balers, it is crucial that the length, wire gauge and finish match the material and baler settings precisely. A tie that is too short may snap or come loose, while one that is too long or too rigid can slow down processing and require extra handling.
Typical applications
Bundling textiles, foam, rubber and other expanding materials
Vertical balers in recycling environments
Manual processing in smaller installations
Temporary storage or transport of compressed bales
Securing bales without damaging the material surface
By taking material expansion, required grip and corrosion resistance into account, the baling process remains tight, reliable and safe – without delays or errors that disrupt operations.

Why choose Metalwire
Tailored advice for double-loop bale ties
Not sure if double-loop bale ties are the right solution for your baling process? We help you make the right choice. Depending on your baler, material and bale volume, we advise whether double-loop bale ties are the most suitable option — or whether an alternative, such as single-loop bale ties or annealed wire, would be a better fit.
For double-loop bale ties specifically, we look closely at length, wire gauge and finish, tailored to your installation and baling process. This way you can be confident the wire runs smoothly, locks firmly and withstands the forces in your baler.

In-house production, controlled quality and reliable supply
We produce double-loop bale ties entirely in-house, with full control over every step: from wire selection to forming the loops and the final checks on length and diameter. This guarantees consistent quality and predictable performance, even for bales under high tension. Each batch is tested for dimensions, locking strength and processability, so you can always rely on stable results in your baling process.
We supply double-loop bale ties in galvanised, copper-coated and phosphated finishes, tailored to corrosion resistance, grip and application. In addition to double-loop bale ties, we also offer single-loop bale ties and annealed wire – together forming our complete baling wire range, suitable for a wide variety of bundling processes in the recycling industry.
